About Our Diagnostic Imaging Department
Our Diagnostic Imaging Department offers services ranging from CT Scanning, Bone Mineral Density Testing, Echocardiography, Mammography, X-ray and Ultrasound. We are also an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site.
Booking an Appointment
Please Note: All imaging exams require an appointment, including x-ray exams. A requisition must be either faxed or sent by Ocean E-referral prior to booking, with the exception of the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP).
Our fax number is 519-843-7637. You will be contacted with an appointment time.
*Emergency coverage is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week. A doctor referral is required for all diagnostic imaging tests.

eReferral simplifies the referral process by enhancing communication between primary care clinicians and specialists/organizations and enabling quick and secure referrals to be sent and received through an electronic platform.

What should I bring with me to the hospital?OHIP Card (if you do not have an OHIP Card you will be expected to show other identification - preferably government-issued) Supplemental Insurance information (if you have extra coverage) Social Insurance Number along with employer information for WSIB visits Full name and address of your family doctor Emergency contact information All medications that you are currently taking including non-prescription medications (over the counter, including herbal medications) Personal care items (toothbrush, toothpaste, hand soap, shampoo, deodorant, shaving kit, brush/comb) Sleepwear, robe and non-skid slippers Dentures/partials (clearly label with your name) Hearing aid (clearly label with your name) Glasses/contact lenses (clearly label with your name) Canes, walkers, wheelchairs or any other aid you use (clearly label with your name) Personal phone and/or tablets AND your own chargers *If you are bringing any electrical devices, such as shavers or blow dryers, please speak with a member of your health care team prior to using it. For safety reasons, these items need to be approved before use.

What should I avoid bringing to the hospital?We encourage you not to bring any valuables with you to the hospital. We are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. This includes, but is not limited to: Jewelry Cash Important documents

Is there a phone or TV in my room?We want to make sure you can stay in touch with your family and friends during this time. Telephones and TV are available in each inpatient room and the service is free. Wi-Fi is also available free of charge. Please speak to a member on your health care team for more information.

When can I go home?The standard discharge time for Groves Memorial Community Hospital is 10:00 a.m. Your care team will start to prepare you for your discharge date as soon as your care plan is in place. Please arrange for a family member or loved one to take you home. If you have any questions regarding the discharge process, please ask a member of your health care team.

Diagnostic Services
Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP)
Groves Hospital is an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) site. The OBSP is a comprehensive organized breast cancer screening program. Patients can be referred to the OBSP by their doctor or they can self-refer. There is no cost to the patient for the breast screening service through the OBSP.
Women, Two-Spirit, Transgender and non-binary people ages 50-74 eligible for screening in the OBSP include:

Ontario residents
-
No acute breast symptoms
-
No personal history of breast cancer

Have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months

Women with breast augmentation that does not involve implants, such as silicone or fat injections, are allowed to be screened in the OBSP.

If transfeminine, have had at least five years of feminizing hormone use in a row
Please note: As of October 16, 2023, people with breast implants may be screened in the OBSP if they meet program eligibility criteria.

A reminder to return for screening
The OBSP screens women 50 years of age and over and automatically recalls clients until the age of 74. Clients over the age of 74 are encouraged to consult with their family physician about continued screening.
